Vilmos Kohut is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in the history of Hungarian football. A true legend of Ferencváros, Olympique de Marseille and Hungary, he left his mark on football in the 1930s.

Ferencváros' incredible winger
Vilmos Kohut was born on July 17, 1906 in Budapest, Hungary. He made his debut in 1924 in the Ferencváros club and quickly established himself as a left winger. Very technical, fast and efficient in front of goal, he became a legend of his club.
He made his debut with the Hungarian national team on January 18, 1925 against Italy, a prestigious match and victory since Hungary won the match 2-1. This would be the beginning of a long adventure that would last 13 years for the winger. Because between 1925 and 1938, the player was a regular in the Hungarian national team.
He played 25 games for his country and scored 14 goals as a left winger. His adventure with his country ended after the 1938 World Cup, where he played 2 games for 1 goal, at the age of 32, while he was a player playing abroad, in France, in Marseille.
One of the first legends of Olympique de Marseille
Described as an extraordinary winger, very powerful, strong and fast, he arrived in Marseille in 1933 after a rich career in Hungary: 1 Mitropa Cup, 4 Hungarian Championships, and 3 Hungarian Cups.
In France, he became a real star, and the club's big attraction during the 1930s. The Hungarian player stayed 6 years playing for Olympique de Marseille, where he was one of the best players in the championship, in 183 games for the French club, he scored 93 goals, still a winger and yet at the end of his career.
With his new club, he won the 1937 French Championship, then finished second in the championship twice in 1938 and 1939. He also won 2 French Cups in 1935 and 1938 and actively participated in the first golden age of the Marseille club. He finally retired in 1939 when the Second World War broke out, he was then only 33 years old.
