Spanish, Right-Winger, Left-Winger, 1m83
Nickname: Lobo
FC Barcelona's iconic winger
Lobo Carrasco was born on March 6, 1959 in Alcoy, Spain. He stood out from a young age for his extraordinary talent and his crazy passion for football. At the age of 9, he joined the youth categories of FC Barcelona, a club where he would stay until he was 30. Aggressive and courageous on the pitch, he would be nicknamed "Lobo".
He made his debut with the FC Barcelona first team at the age of 20. In this great Spanish club, he would establish himself and take a starting spot on the right wing. His talent is exceptional, a twirling winger with extraordinary dribbling skills. Fast, agile and intelligent, he would become one of the best wingers in the Spanish championship.
He will remain the undisputed starter at the right winger position at FC Barcelona for 10 years, he still wins 1 Liga, 3 Spanish Cups and especially 3 Cup Winners' Cups, a record for a player. His victories come in great matches, a 4-3 victory against Düsseldorf in 1979, 2-1 against Standard Liège in 1982 and 2-0 against Sampdoria in 1989.
Surprising departure at FC Sochaux
At the end of the 80s, his starting place is questioned, blocked in attack in particular by Gary Lineker, Julio Salinas or Txiki Begiristain. He then leaves to join the French club FC Sochaux, to everyone's surprise, while the player had contacts with Italian clubs.
He forms a very good attacking line for 3 years with Faruk Hadžibegic and Mehmed Baždarevic. There, he became a fan favorite and surely one of the best players in history to have played for the French club. Despite a lack of efficiency in front of goal at Sochaux, he would become a household name there.
His international career spanned between 1979 and 1988, far from being an undisputed starter, he played a total of 35 matches for only 5 goals. With La Roja, he took part in the 1986 World Cup as a substitute and two Euros where he played, in 1980 and 1984. He was also a starter in the final lost 2-0 against the French team of a certain Michel Platini. In 1992, after a return to Spain, he finally retired at the age of 33.
