Gabriel Batistuta

Gabriel Batistuta is considered one of the best foxes in the football's history. With an exceptional sense of goal, he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, he could just as easily send missiles into the top corner from outside the area.

Gabriel Omar Batistuta

Born February 1, 1969 in Reconquista (ARG)

Argentine, Striker, 1m85

Nicknames: Batigol, "The Lion King"

A young man who is already very decisive in big matches

Gabriel Batistuta was born on February 1, 1969 in Reconquista, Argentina, he began his career in one of the country's big clubs, Newell's Old Boys in 1988. For his first season, he impressed with his great performances in the Copa Libertadores, 3 goals in 5 games at only 19 years old.

With incredible strength and impressive resilience, he signed in 1989 with River Plate, despite the promise of a great future, the player did not impose himself there. He finally signed with the great rival, Boca Juniors the following year, there, he scored 19 goals in 44 games and showed himself as one of the most promising players of his generation.

He was therefore logically called to play the Copa America with Argentina in June 1991, during the tournament, he was phenomenal, he scored 6 goals in 6 games and delivered in addition to that 1 assist. The 22-year-old player was then propelled to the rank of star of the country.

Fiorentina's all-time top scorer

Spotted by several big clubs in Europe, it was finally Fiorentina who succeeded in recruiting him, the player's goal was to make people forget Roberto Baggio who had just signed for Juventus Turin. In an incredible team with legendary players such as Rui Costa, Chiesa or Effenberg, Fiorentina would experience a difficult year and a relegation to Serie B despite Batistuta's good debut.

But the club recovered and won Serie B directly the year of its relegation, Batistuta found his feet in Italy and became passionate about the club and the Fiorentina supporters. He played there for 9 seasons, long enough to become the club's top scorer in history with 207 goals in 333 games.

At Fiorentina, he became one of the best strikers on the planet, with impressive consistency and incredible physical qualities. Very good in his positioning, he is good with both feet and has a complete range of finishing, volleys, powerful shots, finesse or headed goals. The player has an impressive physique and compensates for his lack of dribbling quality with his sense of goal.

The King Crowned in Rome

In 2000, the player decided to leave the club in order to win the Italian championship, he then left at 31, to AS Roma of a certain Francesco Totti. The transfer is resounding and creates many problems from the fanatics of the Fiorentina club and the player.

The transfer still takes place and the player is recruited for 30 million, he then becomes the most expensive thirty-year-old player in history. And Batistuta will quickly silence the possible doubts about a possible drop in level linked to his age. He offers AS Roma the first Italian championship trophy since 1983 in 2001.

But the player will experience a series of recurring injuries the following season, and he loses playing time and level visibly. Despite everything, he participates in the 2002 World Cup, with this edition, he brings his total to 10 goals in the competition. Batistuta will have been one of the best players in the history of the Argentine national team, often responding during big matches. In total, he played 78 games for his country and scored 54 goals and provided 11 assists.

Aging, he left AS Roma in 2003 after two more than complicated seasons. He was recruited by Inter Milan where he hardly played and then went to Qatar to Al-Arabi where he ended his career in 2005, at the age of 36.
