The legend of America FC

Edu Coimbra was born on February 5, 1947 in Rio de Janeiro. He played in the youth categories in Rio de Janeiro and finished top scorer in the 1969 Brazilian championship when he was an attacking midfielder and was only 22 years old. With enormous talent and a magnificent quality to score many goals, he was selected in 1967 for the Brazilian national team.

He did not have the chance to play more with the Seleçao, due to strong competition with Pelé, Rivellino, Ademir de Guia or Dirceu. A period when Brazil had many legendary number 10s. However, Edu was able to stay at a very good level for more than 8 seasons for his club America FC.

A serial scorer

Zico's older brother, the White Pele, he gradually became a legend of the Brazilian championship. He won 4 trophies throughout his career, a record that does not match his talent. He finally ended his career in 1981 at Campo Grande when he was 34 years old.

Edu will forever remain as one of the greatest idols in the history of America FC for whom he is still the second best scorer in the history of the club with 212 official goals scored between 1966 and 1974. His short dribbling, his quality of passes and his goals contributed to his legend.
