From a club relegated to the Argentine national team

Armando Farro was born on 20 de diciembre de 1922 in Argentina. He first played in the lower categories of Argentine football in 1935 and 1937 before joining the first team of Banfield in 1940. In 1944, he was then relegated to Primera B with his club but the contribution of the player was so strong that Guillermo Stábile selected him with the Argentine national team for the Copa America 1945.

During the Copa America, he participated in 3 matches, 3 victories, 4-0 against Bolivia, 9-1 against Colombia and 3-1 against Brazil. He won the competition alongside legendary players such as Félix Loustau, René Pontoni, Rinaldo Martino and Vicente De La Mata.

El Trio de Oro

In 1945, he joined his teammates René Pontoni and Rinaldo Martino in the San Lorenzo club. He will impose himself and highlight the attackers that are these two other teammates with whom he forms the "Golden Trio".

The one nicknamed "El Chueco", because in the shadow of his teammates in his contribution (often in the creation of opportunities), he amazed the fans of the club with his technical ease and in 1946, this famous trio won the Argentine Championship.

San Lorenzo finished in 1st place in the championship with 46 points, 20 wins, 6 draws and 4 losses, 90 goals scored and 37 goals conceded, San Lorenzo finished best attack in the championship and second best defense over the season.

El Trio de Oro scored 55 of the team's 90 goals during the season, Pontoni scored 20, Martino 18 and finally Farro scored 17. Farro played until 1953 at San Lorenzo and played 166 games for 52 goals. His impact on the game gradually diminished due to an eye injury that gradually caused him to lose his sight.

He joined Ferro Carril Oeste in 1954 but was forced to end his career after only 3 games played for his new club, he was then 32 years old.
