A player loyal to Casablanca

Abdelmajid Dolmy was born on August 20, 1953 in Casablanca. Originally from a working-class neighborhood, Derb Sultan, he was a child who loved rock and popular songs. Arriving in the world of football almost by chance, he was loyal for a long time to his club Raja Casablanca, a club in which he played for 18 years. Where he began and ended his career.

He knows almost all of his trophies won at the beginning of his career, during the 70s. With Raja Casablanca, he did not win a single championship but he won 3 Moroccan Cups while being a major player in his team. He is also a Moroccan international after only 3 years as a professional.

A true legend in his country, he turned down many European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Known for his humility, he led Morocco to win the African Cup of Nations in 1976, a historic title for his country, then he reached the round of 16 with Morocco at the 1986 World Cup, narrowly eliminated by West Germany 1-0.

An incredible player

During this 1986 World Cup, he had achieved superb performances, first against England, obtaining a score of 9/10 by the French newspaper L'Equipe. 90 minutes played, 82 balls touched, 89% of successful passes, 15 long passes successful out of 19 attempted, 2 fouls won and 1 interception. Then in the round of 16, he had a great performance against West Germany: 85 balls touched, 88% of successful passes, 10 long passes successful out of 11 attempted, 50% of duels won and 2 interceptions.

An excellent midfielder, he did not have great strength at 1.69 meters tall, he did not tackle much, yet he recovered an impressive number of balls thanks to his game intelligence. With his low center of gravity, he also had an impressive quality to keep the ball at his feet, a refined, simple game, without losing the ball. He was a technically fine midfielder with incredible endurance.

A true technical leader of the Moroccan national team. He left his club of always for 3 years to join CLAS Casablanca before finally returning for a final season in his favorite club. He then ended his career at the age of 38.
