What counts for this ranking is the player's regularity over the calendar year, the number of matches played, the ability to raise his level in big games, statistics (goals, assists, clean sheets, goals conceded, etc.) and trophies won (collective and individual).

His leadership, consistency, and unmatched quality earned him the 2022 Ballon d’Or, a recognition that, to me, perfectly encapsulates his greatness.
What makes Benzema stand out, to me, is his insane Champions League campaign. The way he carried Real Madrid, turning games around almost single-handedly, was nothing short of extraordinary. That’s why, to me, he is the best player of 2023. His 2022 season set a standard of excellence that will be remembered for years to come.
