Roberto Dinamite was born on April 13, 1954 in Duque de Caxias, Brazil. Very quickly attracted to football, he impressed those around him with his talent from a very young age. An incredible finisher, he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to conclude actions in the best possible way.

Also capable of building the game, he began his professional career at the age of 17 in the club of his life, Vasco de Gama. After scoring his first goal as a professional, he was nicknamed "Dinamite". With more than 700 matches played for his club between 1971 and 1993, he will have scored 465 official goals, phenomenal statistics.

A legend of Brazilian football

An attacker with outstanding finishing instincts, he had incredible ball technique and undeniable participation in his team's game, loving to touch the ball. His greatest quality was undoubtedly his ball strike and his always decisive offensive positioning. He is also the top scorer in the history of the derby against Flamengo.

With the Brazilian national team, the player was also a notable figure. He scored 20 goals in 38 games for his country with the A team between 1975 and 1984 in a period where Brazil unfortunately did not win any major trophies despite a fantastic team.

He still reached the final of the 1983 Copa America in which he finished top scorer with 3 goals. He also scored 3 goals during the 1978 World Cup. A World Cup during which he achieved 2 very high-level performances. First against Peru, scoring 1 goal, completing 70% of his passes, delivering 2 key passes, winning 5 out of 6 duels on the ground and 3 out of 4 in the air. Then against Poland, he scored twice, completed 83% of his passes and delivered 2 key passes.

With an incredible talent, he also played 10 matches for FC Barcelona during the 1979/80 season when he was 25 years old. Relegated to the bench, he returned to Brazil, gradually becoming a legend of his country and the Brazilian championship that he won in 1974. He finally retired in 1993, at the age of 39.
