Swedish Striker, 1,76m
Young and already the best player in the Swedish league
Ove Kindvall was born on May 16, 1943, in Norrköping, Sweden. He began his football career in 1961 with IFK Norrköping. He finished as the Swedish league's top scorer in his final season with the club, scoring 20 goals. He was then logically awarded the Swedish Ballon d'Or in 1966.
The legendary Feyenoord Rotterdam striker
With his popularity rising, he was spotted by the great Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam, who were aiming to win the prestigious Champions League. During his first season in the Netherlands, the player simply crushed everything in his path: 27 matches, 31 goals, and 10 assists. His level is stratospheric at only 23 years old.
The scoring machine is underway, and in the Netherlands, the player is showing his full potential. He's not just a simple box-out striker; what he enjoys is breaking into midfield, demanding the ball, and using his speed and dribbling to destabilize the opposing team. He's going to do this very well, becoming one of the best players on the planet.
Ultra-consistent in his performances, the player had nothing but excellent seasons during his time in the Netherlands:
1967/68: 40 matches, 31 goals, 15 assists
1968/69: 45 matches, 35 goals, 8 assists
1969/70: 40 matches, 33 goals, 5 assists
1970/71: 34 matches, 26 goals, 5 assists
The player was at the top of his game and proved decisive in key moments:
Champions League: 18 matches, 9 goals, 1 assist
Europa League: 4 matches, 3 goals
International Football Cup/Intertoto Cup: 41 matches, 32 goals, 8 assists
During his time at Feyenoord, he won the famous 1969/1970 Champions League, scoring one goal and forever etching his name into the history of the competition and the history of his club, for which he boasted phenomenal statistics: 183 matches, 147 goals, and 31 assists.
A career at the highest level cut short
In 1972, at the peak of his career at 28, he decided to return to Sweden for family reasons, putting a sudden halt to his career progression. He then returned to play in the Swedish league, for his former club, Norrköping, where he played for three more seasons.
He then joined IFK Göteborg for two final seasons, without showing any success, scoring only three goals in 22 matches. He then retired in 1977 at the age of 34. A Swedish international for a good part of his career, between 1965 and 1974, he played 43 matches and scored 16 goals for his country.
