Beninese, Left-back, 1m84
A long stint in the lower divisions of French football
Jimmy Adjovi-Boco was born on December 22, 1963 in Cotonou, Benin. Arriving in France at the age of 2, he grew up near Chantilly and began playing football while studying aeronautics. In 1984, he joined AS Creil where he played in the French third division.
His career did not take off, playing for clubs in the lower French divisions. His chance to play in the elite came in 1991 when he joined RC Lens, at the age of 28. Within a club that had just returned to the first division of France, he was seen as a recruit from a promoted club, where he gave the image of a recruitment of a second division player without experience at the top level.
Mr. 0 goal
During his first match for the club from the North of France, he was sent off for a foul after only 12 minutes of play against FC Metz. Right-handed and left-back, he and his team would grow in strength over the years within a team made up of club legends: Eric Sikoa, Robbie Slater, Pierre Laigle and Jean-Guy Wallemme.
Showing a very good level, he managed in 1994 to win his first and only trophy of his career, the French League Cup. Powerful, fast, courageous and motivated to chain efforts, he made the club's supporters happy and gradually became a legend in the hearts of the fans.
A mythical fact of this defender, he never scored a goal in his entire career in the elite of French football, 0 goals in almost 200 matches. A fairly good crosser, he was capable of chaining runs at full speed, proof of his great endurance.
In the 1995/96 season, he could have finally scored a goal during his career in Ligue 1, with a penalty where the team had chosen him to be the shooter. Unfortunately, it was the goalkeeper who stopped the penalty, which did not prevent the player from being one of the public's favorites.
In 1997, he was transferred to the Hibernian club in Scotland where he ended his career after a final professional season, he was then 33 years old. In total, he only played 4 times for Benin, between 1996 and 1997 at the end of his career.
