The flamboyant beginnings
Ferenc Szusza was born on December 1, 1923 in Újpest. From a young age he was considered a huge talent and at the age of 7 he played in a factory club. Then at the age of 12, he joined the Ujpest FC club. Finishing his studies at high school, he obtained his diploma while at 17 he was already a regular in the first team of Ujpest. On his debut, he scored a hat-trick against Kispest.
Starting at the forefront of the attack of his favorite club, he was endowed with great intelligence of the game, technical skills and a great understanding of tactics. Good with both feet, he had a very powerful shot and an ability to pile up goals. Very quickly, he became one of the best Hungarian players of his time.
The legend of Ujpest FC
Later, he moved to right attacking midfielder or right winger, in this position, he organized his team's play. In total, between 1941 and 1960, he participated in 462 matches for his team and scored 393 goals. Although he remained loyal to his Hungarian club throughout his career, he could have joined Western Europe on several occasions.
Many clubs were interested in the Ujpest striker, including the two clubs from the city of Milan, AC and Internazionale. Both clubs tried to recruit him. However, the player declined the offers, preferring to stay in his club with his family, friends and the streets of his city.
His talent allowed him to join the ranks of the Hungarian national team. Between 1942 and 1956, he had the opportunity to play in the golden generation of Hungary in a luxury substitute role. In total, he participated in 24 matches for 18 goals, frankly flattering statistics. But his injury during the summer of 1949 had a strong impact on his career. With 1949, he already had 7 seasons with more than 20 goals, against only 1 after 1949.
