From Santos FC to SC Corinthians

Cláudio Pinho was born on July 18, 1922 in Santos. He began his football career at Santos FC before briefly spending time at Palmeiras. He then returned to Santos FC where he became a regular starter. But it was at SC Corinthians that the striker would reveal himself as one of the best in the world.

Aged 22 when he arrived, it didn't take him long to establish himself as a major figure at the club. He was a striker with great technical quality, capable of crossing perfectly or being a wonderful free-kick taker, which was also one of his specialties. With his new club, he won many trophies: 3 São Paulo Championship, 3 Rio-São Paulo Tournament and 1 Small Club World Cup.

Incredible longevity

Becoming a magnificent finisher, he gained popularity and joined the Seleçao in 1942 for the Copa America. For his first match with Brazil, he scored his first goal. Not enough to allow him to become a regular player for Brazil but he still played 3 of his country's 6 matches during the competition.

In total, Cláudio Pinho played 550 times for his SC Corinthians, scoring 305 goals. An idol of the fans, he left the club as the club's top scorer in history, then joined São Paulo FC to score his final goals in his career, being one of the best Brazilian scorers in the history of this sport.

Nicknamed "Manager", he was known for leading his team on the pitch like a coach. He retired in 1959, at the age of 37, scoring 10 goals in 35 games played for São Paulo FC between 1958 and 1959.
