Joseph John Cole
Born November 8, 1981 in Paddington (ENG)
English, right winger, attacking midfielder, left winger, 1m75
Promising start at West Ham
Born on November 8, 1981 in Paddington, Jose Cole lives with his mother and adoptive father and 2 brothers and sisters. In a united family, he forges his character and personal values. He begins his football career in the youth academy of West Ham United.
Very gifted technically, he appears as one of the great hopes of English football. In the youth categories, he impresses and will logically join the first team in 1998 at just 17 years old. Very quickly, he takes a starting place in the team and will be one of the favorite players of the supporters.
The biggest English clubs begin to follow the player who continues to progress and who in 2001, at only 19 years old, makes his debut in the English selection during a match against Mexico won easily 4-0.
A Chelsea legend
In 2003, it was Chelsea who finally managed to recruit the young English player for the sum of 9.90 million euros. Under the orders of José Mourinho, he became a central figure in the rise of Chelsea in the early 2000s. At Chelsea, he played either right winger, left winger or attacking midfielder. His time at the capital club was a great success since he shone both collectively and individually.
He won 3 Premier Leagues, 3 FA Cups, 3 Carabao Cups, 1 Community Shield and reached the Champions League final in 2008. Far from being a statistics player, he shone with his individual actions, his dribbling and his accelerations. With Drogba and Lampard, he formed a magnificent trio.
His 2007/08 season was undoubtedly one of his best, on the one hand he reached the Champions League final, finished runners-up in the Premier League and had a superb individual season, being voted Chelsea's Blues player of the year. 55 games played for 10 goals and 9 assists.
Last excellent season in France, at LOSC
For the 2010/11 season, he left Chelsea after 7 years at the club and legendary status. He joined Liverpool who were in a rebuilding phase. But the adventure at Anfield was not a great success, marked by injuries, his impact on the club was limited.
He therefore left Liverpool in 2011 and 0 trophies in the form of a loan. He joined the north of France and the LOSC club where he found a very good level at 30 years old. During the 2011/12 season in France he signed a great season with 43 matches, 9 goals and 6 assists, enough to mark the minds of the club's supporters.
End of career and international career
But back at Liverpool, it was the same thing, he struggled to find his former level and his impact on the pitch, so he returned to West Ham in 2013, for a season where he played right winger. A rather good season. He then went on to play for Aston Villa, Coventry in the third division, before hanging up his boots with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the American Division 2 at the age of 37.
In terms of his international career, Joe Cole was a key part of the England squad in the 2000s. He played a pivotal role in several FIFA World Cups, representing his country on the world stage in 2002, 2006 and 2010. In addition, Cole contributed to England's Euro 2004 campaign, cementing his reputation as a key player for the national team. One of his most memorable international moments came at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. In a group stage match against Sweden, Cole scored a superb long-range volley that left spectators and commentators in awe. This goal is often considered one of the greatest goals in World Cup history.
