Florent Malouda was born on June 13, 1980 in Cayenne, French Guiana. From his youth, he developed impressive athletic qualities, including an incredible ability to run for long periods. With his incredible endurance, he was able to compensate for his few technical shortcomings.

He was trained in Châteauroux where he took his first steps in the world of professional football, he was spotted by Guy Lacombe who made him join the Guingamp club then in the French first division. From that moment on, he would take on a new dimension in the French football landscape.

Alongside Didier Drogba, he signed two encouraging first seasons at Guigamps before totally blowing everything away in his path during the 2002/03 season, he finished in an excellent 7th place in the championship and had a season with 41 matches, 12 goals and 2 assists in all competitions, enough to allow him to join Olympique Lyonnais.

Playing left midfielder or left winger at Lyon, he signed an excellent first season at his new club with 6 goals and 10 assists in 50 matches. Malouda continued to improve season after season. His last season for Olympique Lyonnais was wonderful: 47 matches played, 13 goals and 12 assists, he won the French championship for the 4th time in a row and finished best player in the championship.

Logically, he went to England to Chelsea FC where he needed time to adapt to the championship but in the Champions League, the player improved his level and greatly contributed to Chelsea's spectacular run in the Champions League which reached the final.

Establishing himself in the starting team, he had an incredible 2010/11 season with 15 goals and 14 assists in 51 matches in all competitions, he was then at the top of his game. The following season, however, he lost his place as an undisputed starter but still played a major role in the Champions League matches, a competition he won alongside Drogba.

At 32, he had a blank season with Chelsea in 2012/13 during which he did not play any matches. He then made the decision to join Trabzonspor and Turkey, a career choice that ended his international career with the French team, a career with France that lasted 8 years for 80 matches played, 9 goals scored and 11 assists. On the decline, he began an atypical end to his career by playing for clubs in France, India, Egypt and finally Luxembourg. He ended his career at the age of 38 in 2018.
