One of the best players of his generation

Bobby Walker was born on January 10, 1879 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He joined the Heart of Midlothian club in 1896 when he was 17 years old, the beginning of a beautiful story between the player and the club. During the 1896/97 season, he participated in 3 matches for 2 goals, winning the Scottish championship.

Little by little, he became the first player in the history of Hearts to reach the symbolic bar of 100 goals scored in the Scottish first division. During his career, he scored 2 hat-tricks against his club's rivals, Hibernian, on October 28, 1898 when he was only 19 years old and on September 18, 1905. In total, he scored 33 goals against Hibernian, setting a record that still stands more than 100 years later.

Known for his impressive ball control, he was considered one of the best players in the world during the 1910s. With a frail physique, he managed to change the course of matches by dribbling and passing. He is also considered one of the best dribblers of all time, capable of making destructive feints.

A Scottish football legend

His aura was so great that even the King of Norway traveled to attend a Bobby Walker match in 1912. Another highlight of his career was the 1901 Scottish Cup final, which would be known as "The Walker Final", with his long-time club beating the great Celtic Glasgow in the final 4-3 with a benchmark performance by Walker who carried his team throughout the match.

He won a total of 2 Scottish Cups and 1 Scottish Championship, forever inscribing his name in the history of this sport and Scottish football, of which he is one of the best representatives 100 years later.

In 1934, the Football Encyclopedia called Bobby Walker the greatest footballer who ever played. A Scottish international since 1900, he was a regular with his country until 1913. He also held the number of caps with his country until 1931 before his record was broken, he had a total of 29 caps with his country. Time to win 4 British Home Championship titles.
